It is a sought-after skill that combines various techniques of fusing metal into shapes that didn’t exist before. If you’re someone who is looking for a hands-on career that offers flexibility and versatility, welding could be a great choice!

Universal Technical Institute offers a 36-week Welding Technology program to equip graduates with the skills they need to pursue roles in a variety of industries.1

"Someone who would be interested in working in the welding industry would be someone who is interested in working with their hands. At the end of the day, you have built something tangible," says Shawn Enos, a seasoned instructor at NASCAR Tech.

This program will give students hands-on experience learning the four main techniques of welding including: gas metal arc welding (MIG), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), flux-cored welding (FCAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW or TIG). But it’s not just about the curriculum, it’s the passionate instructors who teach it.

Brandon Goodwin, a proud graduate of the program, echoes this sentiment. "I loved going to UTI. The instructors there were very helpful, very hands on, and there was good equipment to work with."

For Cesar Cordero, one of our dedicated welding instructors, the appeal lies in the creative potential of the craft. "To me, it’s art. I could pretty much take metal and glue it together or fuse it together and create something that doesn’t exist. Which is what draws me into it."

Our instructors are committed to helping our students learn their craft. "Every student is challenged to go above and beyond and once they hit that mastery level to go as far as we can push them before graduation," shares Shawn Enos.

At UTI, we train how the industry trains. That means providing our students with the tools and equipment that they can find out in the field.

Holden Grose, another welding program graduate, recalls his first impression of the facilities. "I remember walking into the welding lab and thinking wow, this is really nice and this is where I get to learn. Not as many people are as fortunate to get a place that’s clean and that nice of a work environment to learn and practice in," he shares.

And the industry takes notice of this quality of training. Jack Block, environmental health and safety manager of Crown Technical Systems, attests, “Our experience with UTI is that we gain caliber industry leaders from the school. They have the training above and beyond what is necessary. They are graduates who come to us ready to hit the floor running. We can count on UTI to provide graduates that can get the job done for us.”1

The program isn't just preparing students for a job — it's getting them ready for a career. "We’re preparing them for all of those avenues so they are ready to try to find where they want to go and continue on that path," says Shawn Enos.

If you're considering this path, Holden Grose has a piece of advice, “For anybody interested in going to UTI, I would say definitely pursue it. I loved every minute of it. It was probably one of the best choices I could have possibly made. It put me on a path to being successful and advancing further down this career field.”6

So, are you ready to ignite your future? With our welding program, you won't just be learning a skill - you'll be crafting a career. Let's get started!
